The Florida Department of Health in Pasco County public health preparedness program is actively involved in planning and responding to the public health needs of the community in times of emergency or disaster. Collaborating with Pasco County's Emergency Management team, the Florida Department of Health, local hospitals and other health, medical and disaster response organizations, we work towards coordinated planning, response, recovery, and mitigation efforts.
Cities Readiness Inititative
Prepare major U.S. Cities and metropolitan areas to effectively respond to a large scale bio terrorist event.
Medical Reserve Corp
Local emergencies have the capability to quickly overwhelm the capacity of first responders and the medical infrastructure, especially during the first 12-72 hours. Having residents who are pre-credentialed, trained and ready to respond during times of crisis will allow first-responders to focus their efforts on the most critical, life threatening situations
Public Health Emergency
If a widespread disease outbreak or a bioterrorist attack event occurs, DOH-Pasco will open temporary clinics called POINTS OF DISPENSING (POD) to provide medication to all residents to protect them against the threat.
