Drinking Water Quality Programs

Staff conducts the permitting, variance processing and inspections of public water systems regulated by the Department of Health (Limited Use Water Systems). In addition,  staff processes certain variance applications for private water systems and responds to questions and concerns of the property owners.

Staff may also assist in the bacteriological, chemical and radiological sampling of some water systems, as well as in the identification, positioning (GPS) and tagging of certain drinking water wells in the county. Staff conducts the surveillance and sampling of drinking water wells under the State Underground Petroleum Environmental Response (SUPER) act and the Dry Cleaning Solvents Program. Staff also assists in the investigation of suspected waterborne outbreaks and addresses or assists with the referrals of Public Water Systems.
