We conduct permitting, variance processing, and inspections of public water systems regulated by the Florida Department of Health. In addition,  staff processes certain variance applications for private water systems and responds to questions and concerns of the property owners.

Staff may also assist in the bacteriological, chemical, and radiological sampling of some water systems, as well as in the identification, positioning (GPS) and tagging of certain drinking water wells in the county.

Other activities include surveillance and sampling of drinking water wells under the State Underground Petroleum Environmental Response (SUPER) Act, and investigation of suspected waterborne outbreaks and addresses or assists with the referrals of Public Water Systems.
