Naloxone, also known by its brand name Narcan, is a safe medication that is widely used by emergency medical personnel and other first responders to prevent opioid overdose deaths.

Narcan rapidly reverses an opioid overdose by attaching to opioid receptors, reversing, and blocking the effects of the drug. The medicine only remains effective for 30 – 90 minutes and will have no effect on someone who does not have opioids present in their system.

By carrying Narcan, you can potentially save someone’s life. Visit any 3 of the DOH-Pasco County locations.
